Wallingford Veterans Coffee House Presents

Welcome Home 50th Year Celebration - End of the Vietnam War Luncheon

April 5, 2025

Wallingford Elks Lodge 148 South Main Street Wallingford, CT

This heartfelt event aims to honor and thank our Vietnam Veterans for their courage, sacrifice, and service to our nation.

The Vietnam War was a defining moment in our history, yet many of the brave men and

women who served did not receive the recognition they deserved upon returning home.

This luncheon will provide an opportunity to express our gratitude and ensure these

veterans know they are valued and respected by their community. It has now been 50 years

since the end of the Vietnam War, lest we forget.

To make this event truly memorable, we are seeking sponsorships from community

partners like you who share our commitment to honoring our veterans. By becoming a

sponsor, your organization will play a vital role in creating a meaningful experience for our

Veterans while also showcasing your dedication to supporting those who have served our

country. A buffet and a stellar list of guest speakers will be a fine addition to this event.

WELCOME HOME

  • A Long-Awaited Welcome Home

Unlike past decades, Vietnam veterans are now receiving the honor and gratitude they were once denied, with communities recognizing their sacrifices. Through memorials, reunions, and public appreciation, these veterans are finally hearing the words they should have long ago: "Welcome home.

  • 50 Years Later: Honoring the End of the Vietnam War

Half a century after the Vietnam War ended, the nation reflects on the sacrifices of those who served and the lessons learned from a deeply divisive conflict. Commemorations, ceremonies, and remembrance events pay tribute to veterans and those lost, ensuring their legacy is never forgotten.

  • Young and Drafted: A Generation Sent to War

Young men, many barely out of high school, were drafted and sent to Vietnam, thrust into a brutal and unfamiliar war far from home. Facing intense combat, harsh conditions, and moral uncertainty, they endured physical and psychological scars that would last a lifetime.
